As an independent cooperative financial institution owned by and operated for the benefit of our members, our mission is to deliver financial services of the highest quality and value.

In 1967 UMassFive was organized to serve employees and their immediate family members, of the University of Massachusetts System. In 1971 Amherst, Hampshire, Mount Holyoke, and Smith Colleges were added to the field of membership. Since the start ofUMassFive, we have grown from a one room operation, on the UMass Amherst campus, to a full-service financial institution.

Why join the credit union? It's simple! As a member, you are an owner. We are a member owned, not-for-profit, cooperative financial institution. This gives us the ability to pool our savings, lend to one another, and own the organization where we save, borrow, and obtain other related financial services. You, as a member, decide how our organization is run by participating in the election of our Board of Directors, who are all volunteers. All members have an equal voting right, ensuring that ownership and control of the credit union is always retained by the members.

Your money is safe here at theUMassFive College Federal Credit Union. For your peace of mind, your money on deposit is fully protected and insured. All accounts under one Social Security number are insured up to $100,000.00. Your IRA account is also separately insured in the same way up to $250,000.00. We are chartered by the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA), a federal agency, and we are audited annually.
